Hello, I am Kim Toombs, Chair of the Governing Body.

Did you know that the Governing Body meets 5 times per year?

    Clerk to Governors

Hi, I am Sue Jordan, Clerk to the Governing Body a position I have held for the last 26 years. I also worked as School Administrator for 24 years before retirement. During this time I have been involved with the day to day running of the school and documenting the school’s many achievements and successes over the years. I continue to enjoy the good relationships within school and the childrens’ school life. Recently the Governors and myself were invited to school to meet with the School Council, followed by tea! During the afternoon, governors enjoyed a guided tour of the school, a question and answer session led by the children and the opportunity to share childrens’ workbooks. The children were proud of their achievements, passionate about their learning and excelled in explaining their topic and displays in their classrooms with confidence and enthusiasm. A highlight of the afternoon was children and governors taking part in the daily ‘Coalway burst’ exercise session. The Governors thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and congratulated the children for all of their hard work and thanked them for their kind invitation. The afternoon was a great success and we all look forward to the next time!

    Governor

Hello! I'm Claire Bushell and I have been a governor at Coalway Infant School for approximately 15 years. I am also a teacher in another local primary school. I became a governor when my two daughters attended Coalway; they have grown up now but I stayed on the governing body because I love the school community so much! I am a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee. In my role I have visited the school on many occasions for the learning walks, work sampling and afternoon teas with the school council. Every year, as a committee we also approve policies and review the progress of the School Development Plan and the attainment of the children. I am always very impressed by the childrens' learning and attitudes and the commitment and dedication of all the staff. As governors we always support, praise and challenge the school in everything they do.
